Colombia – Casino destroying forests one more time
Colombia – At the end of an investigation into the beef sector in Colombia, the Environmental Investigation Agency (EIA) published a damning report entitled « Tainted Beef » on May 27, 2021. This report denounces in particularcases of deforestation (about 400 ha) in the Chiribiquete National Park and financing to armed groups by suppliers present in the supply chain of the supermarkets Éxito, a subsidiary of the Casino group in Colombia. It is based on an investigation carried out in particular in the arc of deforestation in the north and north-west of the Chiribiquete Natural National Park, the largest protected area in Colombia.
