font-style: inherit; color: var( --e-global-color-text ); font-family: var( --e-global-typography-text-font-family ), Sans-serif; background-color: var(--ast-global-color-5);\"> were deforested in the Brazilian Amazon, <\/span><b style=\"font-size: 15px; font-style: inherit; color: var( --e-global-color-text ); font-family: var( --e-global-typography-text-font-family ), Sans-serif; background-color: var(--ast-global-color-5);\">13,8 %<\/b><span style=\"font-size: 15px; font-style: inherit; color: var( --e-global-color-text ); font-family: var( --e-global-typography-text-font-family ), Sans-serif; background-color: var(--ast-global-color-5);\"> more than the previous year.<\/span><span style=\"font-size: 15px; font-style: inherit; color: var( --e-global-color-text ); font-family: var( --e-global-typography-text-font-family ), Sans-serif; background-color: var(--ast-global-color-5);\">. \u00b9<\/span><\/p><p><b>Cattle ranching is the main cause, 70% of the deforestation in the Amazon is transformed into pasture\u00b2<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">. Investigations conducted for nearly 10 years have constantly pointed the finger at the role and responsibility of slaughterhouses and distributors. Not only do they regularly source beef from recently deforested areas, but they turn a blind eye to &#8220;cattle laundering&#8221; practices aimed at circumventing Brazilian legislation. These practices allow farms responsible for environmental or social crimes to sell their beef with impunity. <\/span><\/p><p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Cattle breeding in Colombia presents similar problems. Indeed, it is also the main vector of deforestation and the importance of cattle farming is growing.
